President's Choice Award 2007

MICHAEL HORWITZ RECOGNIZED FOR LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE 

Each year, a member of the Board of Directors may be publicly recognized for exemplary service and leadership in furthering the

mission of the Palms West Chamber of Commerce by being presented the President's Choice Award. At the 24th Annual Installation Gala held at the International Polo Club Palm Beach in front of a capacity crowd, the 2007 award was presented to Michael Horwitz of Strategic GMAC Real Estate Corp.

"Michael truly exemplifies leadership as he consistently works effectively with private and public sector leaders on major matters of interest to our business and general communities," said Silvia Garcia, 2006-2007 Chamber Board President. "I was very pleased to present this award to Michael. His dedication to our mission continued to fuel the chamber's visibility within the county, securing our position as a major player on economic development issues and opportunities."

An active member since 2001, Horwitz was nominated to the Board of Directors in 2006. Once on the board, he immediately stepped into a leadership role as Vice President for Governmental Affairs. He also served as the chamber's representative on the Housing Leadership Council. In late 2006, Horwitz led the way on major internal advances within the chamber, including the organization's strategic planning initiative. "The implementation of our Balanced Scorecard will help propel our organization forward," Garcia said. "We have Michael to thank for keeping us on track through a series of rigorous planning sessions."

"I was very pleased to be recognized with this high honor," Horwitz said. "My volunteer hours to the chamber were spent in areas of interest that I truly enjoy. To have been rewarded for it was just icing on the cake."
