Ambassador of the Year 2008

The Palms West Chamber of Commerce has named Eric Gordon its 2008 Ambassador of the Year. Chamber Past President Joanna Boynton announced the honor at its Annual Recognition Luncheon ceremony in front of a capacity audience of more than 150 members and guests.

Gordon, a Mortgage Loan Consultant with SunTrust Mortgage, also serves as Vice President for Membership at our chamber. He has been extremely active in positions of leadership at PWCC since first becoming a member more than a decade ago.

In accepting his award, Eric remarked on his activities as Ambassador. Of all of the things he does, he values his activities in this role as "the most productive." He constantly urges members to get involved through this avenue to achieve maximum benefit from membership. He comments regularly about "the lasting relationships so critical to personal and professional growth that develop through the Ambassador role." In his words, they "come with the territory."

It is very easy to get wrapped up in enthusiasm when speaking with Eric Gordon about the Palms West Chamber of Commerce, membership and Ambassadors. He sees this committee being heavily involved with very visible responsibilities, but he views the opportunities to welcome new members as a remarkable way to serve as a one-on-one sounding board for comments, suggestions and criticisms.

For those members who have been active for a while, a question-do the above referenced thoughts make you think about Eric Gordon? It should-because if you go to a ribbon cutting, a Business after Hours Mixer or a Luncheon, you see Eric Gordon. When you came to one of our major festivals, you see Eric Gordon. And, not only do you see Eric Gordon; you see him working in any way to help the Chamber and its members!

His commitment to the community does not end with out chamber. This passionate, effective leader is very active as well in both the Royal Palm Beach Rotary Club and Western Communities Business Associates. He is also President of Unity for Kids, an early intervention school.

It is very unusual for an officer of this organization to be awarded the honor of Ambassador of the Year. No question about it though-Eric Gordon is a very unusual person. His passion is catching and we are all better for it!
