THE PALMS WEST CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

  Economic Development is the core function of the chamber.  The Palms West Chamber Economic Development committee is highly active in promoting the expansion and retention of our existing businesses while fostering an environment that attracts new business to our region-the Central Western Communities.

A Case for Change  

 The committee’s vision for the future of this region is to help create a community in which we can all Live, Learn Work and Play. Recognizing that the region has vastly changed over the past twenty years and is no longer a bedroom community, the committee has launched an initiative to create a long term plan designed to create true economic stimulus and self sustainability for the Central Western Communities. The Initiative

 The first step in our initiative is to form a task force of public and private sector leaders. This includes leaders from our communities and our municipalities, landowners and other stakeholders.  This task force will guide a long term effort to transform the Central Western Communities into a regional based economy. Our goal is to create regional policy and a marketing plan to further responsible regional economic development.

 

The Task Force

Some of the initial efforts of the task force are expected to include:

·         Creating a land use map

·         Evaluating shovel ready levels of vacant land

·         Identifying and evaluating types of businesses with growth potential

·         Development of incentives for new and existing businesses

The first organizational meeting of the Palms West Chamber Economic Development Task Force will be held on February 24th at the South Florida Fair Grounds, Building 1 at 7pm. More details on the initiative and its components will be forthcoming soon after that date.
